Description
A pair of very unique, exceptionally well designed and well-made, all metal, free-standing lamps, full-functional and from an old industrial factory. Perfect examples of exquisite vintage-industrial lighting, works-of-art. They’re also considered Factory Tumbler Lamps, from an old factory and were actually floor lights before being redesigned. Now, reminiscent of the 1960’s “Dreamachine” – a device with a stroboscopic flicker which produced a visual stimuli, made by artist Brion Gysin, author William S. Burroughs, and mathematician Ian Sommerville this was a classic. Although the original Dreamchine devices were designed to rotate around, in a circular almost-hypnotic-like motion, these lamps do not move. They are fixed, welded in place and very sturdy. However, when you walk or move around the light, you can almost experience a similar, strobe-light affect. Yet, this is just “a play” on the eyes. These are solid metal, six foot tall, round, motionless lamps. The outer shade is a smooth metal, die-cut cage, with a strong steel metal frame. Everything is held in place by an exquisitely decorated, cast-iron base with a pattern of studded circles. These are very distinctive, and very rare lamps (the only pair on the market). The unique die-cut metal cage like design provides for a beautiful amount of cast-off, ambient lighting (the design of which helps to pull the eye in, and grab your attention, …all so subtle, bold & beautiful). They do not put off any heat, but they do make a statement. These two lamps will serve well as accent lights, flanking a desk, couch or a mirror.
