Milk-Glass Shades featured in Arkansas Life Magazine and Remodelista

A pair of our milk-glass shades were featured in this Arkansas Life editorial of the beautiful home of Izabella and Brandon Simmons in The Natural State. Izabella is a contributing editor for the interior-design site Remodelista and she was a joy to help in that, as this article demonstrates, she has very discriminating taste. She says, “I wouldn’t go and order $20,000 of furniture from Design Within Reach. We’re the kind of people who prefer to redo something ourselves.” We provided her with these vintage milk-glass pendants and sockets, and then she paired them with some components she selected from Restoration Hardware.

Our favorite example of the couple’s vision and commitment is mirror to the left of the pendants. Brandon recalls, “That was bequeathed to us by a wealthy couple whom we don’t know, because they just threw it out. Once a year, in the Kenilworth neighborhood of Chicago’s North Shore, the upper echelon get rid of their stuff after their basements flood, and that’s where we found this.” Izabella interjects, “See that part at the bottom? It was rotten, completely. Brandon’s mom helped me glue it back together and re-gild it.”

They are clearly sympathetic spirits to us here at Get Back Inc when Brandon says. “A lot of times, people will go in and gut a place and everything’s brand new as if they were going to Pottery Barn. And we’re at their garage sales going, Oh look at all these things we found! Rusty old metal bins—this is great!”
